Our first boat was a 26-foot cutter-rigged Dutch canal boat named "Trade Winds." She had a wide beam and a shallow draft, but still had a salty kind of look to her. It was convenient to beach her once in a while, around the bays and sloughs where we sailed her.

The image above shows the view from the windward side of the cockpit. The one below is looking back at Bill on the tiller as we run before the wind in San Pablo Bay, catching a warm ride home on the late afternoon marine layer breeze.
